Insta360 X4 Air Technical Details / Specifications

Since Apple introduced the “Air” designation with its MacBooks, the tech industry has adopted it to signify a lightweight product. The Insta360 X4 Air follows this trend. It weighs 165 grams, making it the lightest 360 camera from Insta360 currently available. For comparison, the earlier-released Insta360 X5 weighs 200g.

Which is better? X5 or X4 Air? Differences and Similarities

X4 Air is aimed at beginners and naturally is not as good as the X5 when it comes to hardware and software features. While the more expensive and ‘Pro’ X5 features Dual 1/1.28″ Sensors, the cheaper X4 Air has a smaller Dual 1/1.8″ Sensors. The X5 is equipped with 2× Pro Imaging Chips, offering much better performance, while X4 Air lacks them.

If image resolution is your priority, the Insta360 X4 Air won’t disappoint, as it can shoot in 8K at 30fps, matching its more expensive sibling. While the X5 can record 6K at 50fps as well, the X4 Air is limited to 5.7K at 30fps in the next 360 option. Also, the X4 Air lacks the PureVideo mode found on the X5.

Both models offer 49ft (15m) waterproof capabilities. They both also feature FlowState Stabilization and 360° Horizon Lock. Insta360+ is supported on both.

So which one to buy?

If you want the best image quality and performance, the X5 is the model to go with. If you are in the market for a lightweight, first 360 camera, then the X4 Air is definitely worth getting. It’s definitely a fun little camera to carry around.

OPPO Find X9 Pro – the 2025 flagship phone of the year contender is here

Oppo has officially unveiled the Find X9 Series (Find X9 Pro CPH2791 / Find X9 CPH2797) for the global market. These are the first Oppo smartphones to launch with ColorOS 16, based on Android 16. Like last year’s Find X8 and Find X8 Pro, the 2025 models continue to use MediaTek flagship processors instead of Qualcomm Snapdragon.

What’s new in the Find X9 Pro?

The Find X9 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 octa-core processor, delivering flagship-level performance along with impressive power efficiency. It packs a large 7500mAh battery, promising excellent endurance. (Note: In some markets, due to regional regulations, the device ships with a 7290mAh battery instead.)

In the camera department, Oppo has made a significant leap. The telephoto camera now features a 200MP sensor with 3x optical zoom, replacing the dual telephoto setup found on the previous Find X8 Pro. Oppo uses the sensor’s high pixel count to achieve optical-quality zoom levels.

The main 50MP rear sensor has also been upgraded — it’s now larger at 1/1.28″ compared to last year’s 1/1.4″, resulting in improved detail and low-light performance.

Video capabilities have seen a notable boost as well. The Find X9 Pro supports 4K 120fps video recording and LOG recording in Pro Video mode — both features missing from last year’s model.

On the front, there’s now a 50MP selfie camera with autofocus, offering sharper, more consistent results.

One area where the older Find X8 Pro still holds an edge is peak brightness. The previous model could reach 4500 nits, while the new one reportedly tops out at 3600 nits (according to GSMArena — Oppo’s official spec sheet doesn’t list this).

Conclusion

Overall, the Find X9 Pro brings strong upgrades across the board — from performance and battery life to camera versatility and video capabilities. ColorOS 16 feels smoother and more feature-rich than ever, and the bigger battery easily lasts a full day and beyond.

Almost all the reviews of the Find X9 Pro on YouTube have been overwhelmingly positive, with many reviewers especially praising its camera performance.

With the option to add the Hasselblad Zoom Kit, this phone stands out as a compelling alternative to Samsung Galaxy and Apple iPhone flagships.

Key Highlights of Fujifilm X-E5:

The X-E5 is built around a high-resolution 40.2MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor paired with the X-Processor 5 image-processing engine. This combination delivers an enhanced image-processing algorithm that boosts resolution without compromising the signal-to-noise ratio. The result? Astonishing image quality right in the palm of your hand.

One of the standout design elements is the newly designed Film Simulation dial. It features a precision-cut indicator window that minimizes the gap between dial and body for an exact finish. You can individually set Film Simulation and image quality settings to the FS1-FS3 positions, allowing you to save your own custom FS recipes for quick access.

Refinement is central to every aspect of the X-E5’s design. The viewfinder and diopter adjustment control fit flush with the body, while the Bluetooth button on the base plate evokes the look of the rewind button on classic film cameras – a nice nod to Fujifilm’s heritage.

The X-E5’s Front Control Lever accesses the Surround View function, which displays a semi-transparent or outlined area outside the image. This provides an OVF-like experience, enabling you to see outside the EVF frame so you can easily monitor what’s about to come into frame – perfect for capturing fast-moving subjects.

Despite being similar in size to its predecessor, the X-E5 is the first camera in the series that features a powerful five-axis IBIS (In-Body Image Stabilization) mechanism offering up to 7.0 stops in the center and 6.0 stops at the periphery (based on CIPA 2024 standard with XF35mmF1.4 R lens mounted). This makes it an effortless “daily carry” that remains adaptable to the most challenging scenarios.

Fixing GDM Login Screen Failure After Ubuntu 25.10 Update on my AMD / Nvidia Laptop

The Problem

After updating Ubuntu to the latest version ( Ubuntu 25.10 | October 2025), the GDM (GNOME Display Manager) login screen completely stopped loading. The system would boot normally but never display the graphical login interface.

System Configuration

  • OS: Ubuntu 25.10 (updated October 2025)
  • Kernel: Linux 6.14.0-32-generic
  • GPU Setup: Dual GPU system – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Mobile (Driver 580.95.05) | AMD Radeon Vega (integrated)
  • Display Manager: GDM3
  • Desktop Environment: GNOME 49

Initial Symptoms

When attempting to access the GUI:

  • Black screen with no login prompt
  • GDM service appeared to be running (systemctl status gdm showed “active”)
  • Could access system via TTY (Ctrl+Alt+F2)
  • No obvious error messages in initial logs

Investigation Process

Step 1: Check GDM Service Status

sudo systemctl status gdm3

Finding: GDM was active but logs showed repeated failures:

Gdm: GdmDisplay: Session never registered, failing
Gdm: GdmLocalDisplayFactory: maximum number of X display failures reached: check X server log for errors

The greeter was launching but immediately crashing in a loop.

Step 2: Check GNOME Shell Logs

journalctl -b | grep -i "gnome-shell\|mutter\|wayland"

Critical Finding: Found the root cause error repeated multiple times:

gnome-shell: symbol lookup error: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libmutter-17.so.0: undefined symbol: wl_fixes_interface

This indicated a library dependency issue – GNOME Shell was crashing because it couldn’t find a required symbol in the Wayland library.

Step 3: Analyze Library Dependencies

Checked which Wayland library GNOME Shell was using:

ldd /usr/bin/gnome-shell | grep -i wayland

Output:

libwayland-server.so.0 => /opt/amdgpu/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libwayland-server.so.0

Problem Identified: GNOME Shell was loading the AMD GPU driver’s old Wayland library instead of the system library.

Step 4: Compare Library Versions

dpkg -l | grep -i "libwayland\|libmutter\|gnome-shell"

Findings:

  • System Wayland libraries: 1.24.0 (correct, up-to-date)
  • AMD GPU Wayland libraries: 1.23.0 (outdated, from /opt/amdgpu/lib/)
  • GNOME Shell: 49.0
  • Mutter: 49.0 (libmutter-17)

The October 2025 Ubuntu 25.04 update upgraded GNOME/Mutter to version 49 (Mutter 17), which requires Wayland 1.24.0 with the wl_fixes_interface symbol. The old AMD 1.23.0 libraries don’t have this symbol.

Step 5: Find the Configuration Causing This

cat /etc/ld.so.conf.d/20-amdgpu.conf

Content:

/opt/amdgpu/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu
/opt/amdgpu/lib/i386-linux-gnu

This configuration file was forcing the dynamic linker to prioritize AMD’s outdated libraries over the system libraries.

Root Cause Analysis

The issue was caused by a library path priority conflict:

  1. The October 2025 Ubuntu update upgraded GNOME Shell to version 49, which uses Mutter 17
  2. Mutter 17 requires Wayland 1.24.0 with new symbols including wl_fixes_interface
  3. The system had AMD GPU proprietary drivers installed from /opt/amdgpu/
  4. The file /etc/ld.so.conf.d/20-amdgpu.conf configured the dynamic linker to check AMD’s library paths first
  5. AMD’s libraries included an outdated Wayland 1.23.0 that lacked the required symbols
  6. GNOME Shell loaded the incompatible AMD Wayland library and crashed on startup
  7. GDM repeatedly tried to launch the greeter, resulting in a crash loop

The Solution

The fix involved disabling the AMD library path configuration to allow the system to use the correct Wayland libraries:

Step 1: Disable AMD Library Path Configuration

sudo mv /etc/ld.so.conf.d/20-amdgpu.conf /etc/ld.so.conf.d/20-amdgpu.conf.disabled

This renames the file so the dynamic linker ignores it while preserving it for potential future use.

Step 2: Rebuild Dynamic Linker Cache

sudo ldconfig

This rebuilds the library cache without the AMD paths, forcing the system to use standard library locations.

Step 3: Restart GDM

sudo systemctl restart gdm

Restarts the display manager with the corrected library configuration.

Verification

After restarting GDM, verify GNOME Shell is running:

ps aux | grep gnome-shell | grep -v grep

Expected output should show gnome-shell running as the gdm-greeter user.

Results

After applying the fix:

  • GDM login screen loads successfully
  • GNOME Shell runs without crashes
  • Wayland session works correctly
  • System uses proper Wayland 1.24.0 libraries from /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/

Why This Happened

This is a classic dependency version conflict that emerged during a major system update:

  1. Proprietary driver packages often bundle their own versions of system libraries to ensure compatibility
  2. Library path configuration (/etc/ld.so.conf.d/) determines which library versions get loaded
  3. Major version updates can introduce new API requirements that old bundled libraries don’t support
  4. The AMD driver package wasn’t updated in sync with GNOME, leaving incompatible libraries in place

Nothing Phone 3 Macro Telephoto 3x Camera Review: Closer Than You Think

The Nothing Phone 3, the latest “flagship” smartphone from the startup Nothing (headed by Carl Pei, founder of OnePlus), has faced a fair share of criticism from the Reddit community and tech YouTubers around the world. Most of this backlash stems from its high “flagship” price, which many feel isn’t justified. The unique rear design and the Glyph interface—once the brand’s biggest differentiators—have also drawn mixed reactions online.

However, if you can set aside the price tag for a moment and look at the phone as a whole, there’s a lot to like. While online images might make the rear design look gimmicky or polarizing, using the device in person for over three weeks has changed my perspective. It actually looks striking in hand and regularly turns heads in public. People will ask you, “Hey, what phone is that?” when you pull it out.

Among its many features, one particular aspect stands out: the 3× telephoto macro lens, which can focus much closer than the telephoto lenses on Google Pixels and Apple iPhones.

This post focuses on that camera and its macro capabilities.

Screenshot 20251003 110423
Zoomed in – Regular zoom is 3x ( 70mm ). This is 240mm ( in-camera digital zoom ).
Screenshot 20251003 110353
Zoomed way-in. 689mm. The regular 3x Optical zoom is 70mm.

A Quick Note on Software Versions

For context, I’ve tested the Nothing Phone 3 on both Android 15 and Android 16 Beta. Before the Android 16 beta release, Nothing rolled out a camera update that promised improvements, and they also released another update for Android 15 users after the Android 16 Beta, which also addressed some camera issues.

Macro Photography: General Pain Points

Before diving into the Nothing Phone 3’s macro telephoto performance, it’s worth understanding the common challenges of macro photography, regardless of the device or camera brand:

  • Extremely shallow depth of field → Even a light breeze can shift your subject out of focus. For example, if you focus on a fly’s eye and the plant moves slightly, your focus point is lost.
  • Limited working distance → You often have to shoot from just a few centimeters away, which blocks light, raises ISO, and risks scaring away live subjects.
  • Manual focus is often essential → Autofocus tends to hunt or miss at macro distances. Professional macro shooters usually rely on manual focus, often combined with focus peaking or magnified live view, and sometimes stack multiple shots for sharpness.
  • Camera shake is amplified → Even the smallest movement can cause blur, making handheld shots challenging without stabilization and fast shutter speeds.
  • Time and patience → Getting a crisp, well-lit macro shot often takes multiple attempts, fine adjustments, and good light.

These challenges apply to all macro setups—including the Nothing Phone 3.

Telephoto Macro Hardware & Capabilities

The Nothing Phone 3’s telephoto camera features a 50MP Samsung JN5 sensor (1/2.75″ size) with an f/2.68 aperture. It supports Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) for video. The telephoto lens has a 3× native optical zoom, equivalent to a 70mm full-frame focal length, and supports up to 60× digital zoom (though not in all camera modes). It can also shoot 4K 60fps video.

A few key points:

  • 3× is the true optical zoom — anything beyond that is digitally/AI enhanced.
  • There’s a dedicated Macro Mode with 3× and 6× zoom toggles. Other zoom levels aren’t supported in this mode.
  • You don’t have to use Macro Mode for close-ups — the regular Photo Mode and Expert Mode (RAW shooting) also allow for close focusing.

Initially, you’ll likely switch to Macro Mode for close-ups, as I did. But if you want to push closer using digital/AI-enhanced zoom, you’ll get better flexibility using the regular Photo Mode.

Here is an example of a macro shot zoomed way in ( no edits – 534mm equivalent ).

IMG 20251003 083017065

and the same shot from a regular viewpoint at 3x ( 70mm ).

IMG 20251003 083105992

What Works Well

Here’s what I genuinely like about the telephoto macro lens on the Nothing Phone 3:

  • Closer focusing than Pixel and iPhone telephotos → It can lock focus at shorter distances, enabling dramatic macro compositions.
  • Macro close focusing works in video too, letting you capture some unique close-up footage.
  • The AI-enhanced zoom is surprisingly effective for casual shooting and creative framing—just don’t pixel-peep, because at the end of the day, this is still a smartphone sensor.

With time and patience, you can get stunning macro shots. The results can be rewarding.

The Issues I Faced

It wasn’t all smooth sailing. While shooting macros on Android 15 (Stable) and Android 16 (Beta), I ran into a few issues:

  • Autofocus struggles at very close range → It often fails to lock focus on very near subjects. Sometimes, refocusing on a nearby area and then returning works; other times, you’ll need to switch to Expert Mode and use manual focus.
  • Lack of macro assist tools → There’s no focus peaking or focus magnification in manual mode, which makes precise focusing tricky compared to dedicated cameras or pro apps.
  • Touch focus quirks → It often overexposes scenes and doesn’t always focus exactly where you tap—like the tiny head of an insect, for eg.
  • Macro Mode’s zoom limitation → You’re locked to 3× and 6× in Macro Mode, while regular Photo Mode supports other zoom levels. This limitation doesn’t make much sense.

Features I Hope to See in Future Updates

If Nothing wants to make the telephoto macro experience truly shine, here’s what would help:

  • Macro assist tools like focus peaking or focus magnification in Expert Mode
  • Better touch focus control and accuracy
  • AI-enhanced zoom ( beyond 6x ) support in the dedicated Macro Mode
  • Improved autofocus for extremely close subjects

Some Sample Images

While many Android phones utilize an ultra-wide-angle lens for macro, the Nothing Phone 3 employs the telephoto lens, which offers excellent background compression and bokeh, resulting in more striking, DSLR-like images.

IMG 20251003 080034691

Final Thoughts

The Nothing Phone 3’s telephoto macro lens is genuinely impressive for a smartphone from a startup like Nothing. It can achieve closer focusing than many flagship competitors, and with some patience, the results can be spectacular. It has allowed me to take photos that would be impossible to take on my other smartphones. However, software limitations and focusing quirks hold it back from its full potential.

A few thoughtful camera updates – which I really expect Nothing to push to these devices in the future – can make the Macro Photography on this more enjoyable.

The Camera Setup

Rear:

  • 200MP main sensor, f/1.88 aperture, OIS
  • 8MP ultra-wide, 120° FOV

Front:

  • 50MP selfie camera with Eye AF

That 200MP sensor is the real attraction here. Most phones in this range stick with 50MP. Vivo’s promising “Ultra HD Document” mode and Supermoon photography.

The front camera does Eye AF for group selfies, which actually works better than standard AF when you’ve got multiple faces in frame.

Performance Specs

Vivo V60e 5G is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo processor (4nm) – an 8-core setup with 4 cores at 2.5 GHz and 4 at 2.0 GHz. Not flagship territory, but solid for this price.

RAM is LPDDR4X, storage is UFS 2.2. Both are older standards, but functional. Vivo adds virtual RAM expansion—8GB on the base variant, 12GB on the top model. No microSD slot ( which has become a norm now )

Display and Battery

It features a 6.77-inch AMOLED display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate and 1600 nits of peak brightness. The display also has an FHD+ resolution (2392 × 1080) and P3 wide color gamut support.

Battery is massive: 6500mAh. Charges at 90W—Vivo claims full charge in about 45 minutes. No wireless charging is supported.

Build and Design

Plastic back, weighing 190 grams and measuring just 7.49mm thick. Surprisingly lightweight, considering the large battery. It also features an in-display optical fingerprint sensor and an infrared blaster, a handy addition for those who still use them.

Box includes a case, screen protector (pre-applied), 90W charger, and USB cable. Everything you need.

Real Talk

The 200MP camera is marketing-heavy, but it does give you more crop flexibility and better detail in good light ( at least on paper ). The 6500mAh battery is great to have.

Downsides? UFS 2.2 storage is slower than UFS 3.1. No dedicated Telephoto lens is a bummer.

For ₹30k, you’re getting Android 15 ( upgradable to Android 16 ), a huge battery, fast charging, and that 200MP sensor.

The Budget Pick: ROG Xbox Ally (RC73YA-NH010W)

Priced at ₹69,990 (down from MRP ₹83,990), this is the more accessible option. It runs on AMD’s Ryzen Z2 A processor with 4 cores and 8 threads, clocking up to 3.8 GHz. You get 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB storage.

The 7-inch FHD touchscreen pushes 120Hz with a bright 500 nits display. Weighs just 670 grams, making it lighter than most gaming handhelds. Battery is 60WHrs—decent for mobile gaming sessions.

What’s interesting: Hall Effect analog triggers (no drift issues), HD haptics, and full Windows 11 access. Plus, you get 3 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate thrown in.

The Beast: ROG Xbox Ally X (RC73XA-NH016W)

This one costs ₹1,14,990 (MRP ₹1,31,990) and means serious business. AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor with 8 cores, 16 threads, hitting 5.0 GHz. The AI NPU delivers 50 TOPS for AI workloads.

RAM jumps to 24GB, storage doubles to 1TB. Same 7-inch 120Hz display but with an 80WHrs battery—that’s 33% more juice than the base model.

The real upgrade? USB 4 with Thunderbolt 4 support. Better external GPU compatibility, faster data transfers. Weighs 715 grams—slightly heavier but worth it for the specs.

Why This Matters

Both devices run full Windows 11, not some stripped gaming OS. Your entire Steam library, Epic Games, Xbox—everything works. Xbox Play Anywhere means your saves sync across PC and Xbox consoles.

The build quality looks solid. Gorilla Glass protection on the screen, fingerprint sensors, Dolby Atmos audio. These aren’t cheap plastic toys.

Real talk: The base Ally at ₹70k competes directly with the Steam Deck. The Ally X at ₹1.15L is pricier but packs significantly better specs. If you’re buying, the extra ₹45k gets you double the storage, 50% more RAM, better battery, and that Thunderbolt 4 port.

Pre-orders are live on Amazon India. Ships October 16.

What We Know About DJI Osmo Mobile 8

The DJI Osmo Mobile 8 has not been officially announced by DJI at the time of writing. However, the device has appeared in FCC filings under model number DS308, confirming its existence and development.

According to recent industry leaks from internal dealer forecasts, DJI is planning a November 2025 product launch that includes three major releases – the DJI Neo 2 FPV drone, DJI Mic 3 Pro, and the Osmo Mobile 8 smartphone gimbal. The timing aligns with DJI’s strategy to capture the holiday shopping season.

Expected Features and Specifications

While official specifications remain under wraps, the Osmo Mobile 8 is expected to build upon the features introduced with the Osmo Mobile 7 series, which launched in February 2025. The OM7 brought significant upgrades including:

  • Seventh-generation stabilization technology
  • ActiveTrack 7.0 for enhanced subject tracking
  • 10-hour battery life with USB-C charging
  • Built-in retractable tripod
  • Magnetic phone clamp supporting smartphones 67-84mm wide, 6.9-10mm thick, weighing 170-300g
  • Compatibility with Multifunctional Module (gesture control, bi-color light, microphone receiver support)

The Osmo Mobile 8 is likely to introduce improved motor torque to support increasingly heavy smartphone camera modules, enhanced AI tracking capabilities, and potentially extended battery performance beyond the current 10-hour runtime.

Pricing Context

The $149 listing price matches the launch price of the Osmo Mobile 7P (Pro variant with Multifunctional Module included), while the standard Osmo Mobile 7 retailed for $89. This suggests the Osmo Mobile 8 may either:

  • Replace the OM7P as the premium offering with enhanced features included
  • Serve as a mid-range option between a potential standard and pro variant

For comparison, the Osmo Mobile 6 launched at $159 in 2022, making the current generation pricing significantly more competitive.

As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

Release Timeline and Availability

The December 25, 2025 date on Amazon appears to be a placeholder, as industry sources point to a November 2025 announcement. DJI typically follows FCC certification with product launches within weeks to a few months, and the Model DS308 has already cleared FCC regulatory approval.

The timing would position the Osmo Mobile 8 perfectly for Black Friday and holiday gifting, traditionally strong sales periods for mobile accessories and content creation tools.

Competition in the Smartphone Gimbal Market

DJI continues to dominate the mobile gimbal sector, though competition from Zhiyun and Hohem remains active. The integration of AI tracking technology and compatibility with native smartphone camera apps (including iPhone Cinematic mode) and live streaming platforms like TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram gives DJI a significant edge.

What This Means for Content Creators

The Osmo Mobile series has become essential equipment for vloggers, livestreamers, and mobile content creators. The eighth generation is expected to address professional pain points while remaining accessible to beginners through the DJI Mimo app’s one-tap editing features and guided shot templates.

Key improvements content creators are hoping for include:

  • Stronger magnetic mounting for larger, heavier flagship phones
  • Improved tracking in crowded environments
  • Enhanced gesture control responsiveness
  • Better integration with professional audio equipment (DJI Mic series)

Disclaimer: The DJI Osmo Mobile 8 has not been officially announced by DJI. Pricing, specifications, and release dates mentioned are based on third-party listings and industry leaks and are subject to change. Oura Ring 4 Ceramic ( 2025 ) Specs and Features

Why Ceramic Matters

Zirconia ceramic isn’t just pretty. It’s tough – 8.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, harder than steel, almost as durable as sapphire. It’s also biocompatible (same stuff used in dental crowns and joint implants), hypoallergenic, and lightweight enough you’ll forget you’re wearing it.

The catch? Ceramic can scuff when it rubs against softer metals. Your dumbbells and cookware might leave marks. It’s jewelry-grade material, so treat it like jewelry.
