What’s the difference between ILCE-6100X and older ILCE-6100 Camera?
Even though this is coming in stock in 2025, this is not actually a new APS-C mirrorless camera from Sony.
Different Variants of Sony A6100:
- ILCE-6100: Sony A6100 Body Only
- ILCE-6100L: Body + 16–50 mm Power Zoom Lens ( First Gen )
- ILCE-6100K: Body + 16–50 mm2 Power Zoom Lens ( Mark 2 / Second Gen )
- ILCE-6100Y: Body + Zoom Lenses (16–50 mm & 55–210 mm)
- ILCE-6100X: Body + Zoom Lenses (16–50 mm2 ( Mark 2 ) and 55–210 mm)
The ILCE-6100X bundle ( ILCE-6100X/BQ IN5 ) includes the newer SELP16502 lens ( 16-50mm Mark 2 Kit Lens ) instead of the older 16-50mm First Gen lens which was launched ages ago. It also comes with the first gen SEL55210 Lens ( Sony 55-210 Zoom Lens ). At the time of writing, there is no Mark 2 / 2nd Gen version of the 55-210 lens launched by Sony yet. We might see it in the future though.

Sony A6100 is the successor to the very popular Sony A6000 Camera. While its more expensive siblings like the A6600 come with 5-axis in-body image stabilization (IBIS), the A6100 doesn’t have that, instead has to rely solely on Lens stabilization ( if the lens attached has it ).
It also doesn’t feature the newer NP-FZ100 battery which offers fantastic battery backup, instead relies on the first-generation NP-FW50 battery.
One feature the A6100 has and the A6600 doesn’t is the built-in flash.
