Imaging & Video Performance

The Canon EOS R6 V is equipped with a 32.5MP full-frame CMOS sensor (35.9 x 23.9mm) capable of recording 7K RAW video internally to a CFexpress card. The DIGIC X processor handles image data, enabling a maximum movie recording resolution of 7K RAW and 4K for MP4 format recording.

For videography, the camera includes a full-size HDMI (Type A) terminal for uncompressed YCbCr 4:2:2 10-bit output. It supports Canon Log 2 and Canon Log 3, providing approximately 15+ stops of dynamic range. The camera also features an Open Gate recording mode, capturing the full sensor area in a 3:2 aspect ratio at resolutions up to 6960 x 4640. A Slow & Fast mode is included for time-warping recording in-camera.

Active Cooling & Design

To support long-form video recording, the EOS R6 V features a built-in active cooling fan system and a heat-dissipating magnesium-alloy chassis. The fan operation can be set to Off, On, or Auto, with adjustable rotation speeds (High, Medium, Low, Stop).

The body is designed with video-focused physical controls, including a front record button, a Power Zoom lever, and a tally lamp. It also features a vertical tripod mount and a vertically optimized user interface for portrait-oriented content creation.

Stabilization & Autofocus

The In-Body Image Stabilizer (IBIS) provides up to 7.5 stops of shake correction (at the center of the image) when used with compatible RF lenses. This system works in coordination with the lens’s optical IS and can be further supplemented with Movie Digital IS.

The Dual Pixel CMOS AF system offers high-speed, high-precision tracking. It includes AI-based subject detection for people (eyes, face, head, body), animals (dogs, cats, birds, horses), and vehicles (cars, motorcycles, aircraft, trains). The system features 779 focus points during video recording.
